A new themed word puzzle every day: swipe across the grid to spell words, clear the board, and hunt for a perfect score.
WordErase is a small daily word game. Everyone gets the same themed grid each day, you swipe across adjacent letters to spell words, valid words pop off the board, and if you clear every tile you earn the day’s perfect score. The shared-daily-puzzle part is on purpose, so you and a friend are working the exact same grid and can compare how you did.
Building a word game taught me more than I expected about dictionaries. Each word is checked first against a bundled word list, then against Apple’s own spell checker as a second pass. And the satisfying little loop of swipe, pop, tiny haptic took a surprising amount of fiddling to get right. It’s the kind of project that’s easy to start and sneaky-hard to actually finish.
